It was... read more not until we got into contact with Long Distance that we realized what a true service company is like. They offered us all of their plans and deals, as well as told us to consider how big the move would be and which pieces of equipment would actually be necessary just so we did not have to pay for useless things and still be charged for them.

Within a few days we had received a knock on the door by a supervisor and a group of men who had arrived to predict how much work the move would require. He got on his walkie talkie and spoke to the boss back at the headquarters I presume, and about thirty minutes later another truck with two extra guys showed up to begin the move.

They helped us pack everything into wooden crates for the appliances and the clothing and stuff they had separate cardboard boxes and bags for. They were of this weird cotton type of material and it provided extra stability and security so that our stuff would not be knocked back and forth.

It took about forty eight hours before most of the house was emptied out and our things were scheduled to arrive within the next week. We had moved in and began unpacking all of the things we had carried on hand. And luckily, about two days later all of our things began arriving and we have just began the unpacking process. Very happy how things worked out. Would totally recommend. read less

In other words, the Long Distance movers are very professional in their field, they use up to date trucks to ensure that they can move in long distance and carry the belongings carefully. Even though I called this company last minute they still accommodated me and did anything in their immediate power to make our move successful. I recommended this company to my friend, and she loved her experience. She had the same treatment and experience as me! Her dad had a few paintings that were different sizes and she said that they really took extra care of them and wrapped it perfectly. They were very valuable and expensive, she told me they had no idea how they could trust those pieces of artwork in the hands of some random strangers, but they proved her wrong and delivered it with care and extra wrapping around it to preserve the paintings.

Being able to find a company that you could trust with your valuables is not an easy achievement and it is something that caused great relief in me and my family as well. It is not easy to trust just anybody to come inside your home and handle your belongings in their hands, but these gentlemen were so nice and collected that you knew they were there strictly for work and their expertise reflected in their work.

It took about five days for the entire moving process to be completed, this included emptying out the basement and the garage. We had many things that were going to be put away in storage and the movers even helped us bring those unnecessary things to somewhere closer to our front entrance in order for it to be easier to carry out. They provided their own customized sturdy crates made out of wood and plastic and designed to store different types of materials.These guys are truly a diamond in the rough of moving companies and I would choose them again without hesitation if ever need be. read less

I live in Las Vegas and was tasked by family to relocate my mother's belongings from her Chicago apartment to her new residence in an assisted living facility in Connecticut.... read more  When reviewing potential moving companies on Yelp i was impressed by the number of comments (and high ratings) for Long Distance Movers on both customer service and friendliness of the moving crew.  I decided to give them a shot (along with two other companies I requested a bid from) and would like to add my voice to the reviewers who have already yelped their positive experience.  From the very beginning my experience was positive.  I was able to arrange for an estimator to view the apartment within two days (more difficult than it sounds since I was coordinating from 1500 miles away), received my estimate within an hour of the estimators inspection and was able to set the date for the "pack" on the same call.  On the day of the move the packing team arrived on time and were very pleasant and helpful throughout the process even accommodating some of my last minute requests without fuss.  Additionally, for a small additional fee they were able to confirm a specific date and time for delivery to my mother's new residence in Connecticut which was extremely important to me (and my mother).  Many moving companies offer a 2-3 day window for delivery, as I learned.

From beginning to end the process was as smooth and effortless as a cross country move can be.   These guys are good,...you should give them a try. read less

The crew that came to pick up my belongings was on time, efficient, and very courteous. I did not pay by the hour--and they took their time with my belongings. They did a great job wrapping my antique bed, tv, and other precious items. When the moving van was en route to my destination, I received text message updates on my phone, so I knew where the truck was at any given moment. The team that delivered my belongings actually arrived early and was amazing at unpacking and putting everything together. It was seamless. Nothing broken, nothing lost. The first company I checked was Long Distance Movers. Having read about their services and prices, I realized there was no need for me to check the rest of companies my friends had suggested. I just grabbed my phone and called LDM to ask for more details. You know, first impressions are really important to me, so I was very happy to find out that these guys were so kind and friendly after my very first conversation with one of their reps. The woman was so patient and kind. She answered my numerous questions, such as: Do you provide me with moving boxes? How about bubble wrap? What other packing materials you use to protect my belongings? Are your movers trained for what they do? Are they efficient? (I hate it when people drag their feet), and many others. I know some of these could be considered impolite, but I was just so anxious about this procedure I couldn't control myself, and the lady on the phone did not show it in any way that she was bothered by such questions - she was patient and understanding. Anyway, after our long talk and all the explanations she gave me, I felt ready to schedule the moving day. My move was quite demanding, as I wanted to move my apartment, my office, also needed my car transported, and I wanted them to take care of packing everything for moving. However, you wouldn't believe how easy it seemed when done by their amazing team of professionals. I'm sure it was not really that easy for them to deal with all that, especially with my constant questions, but they just never showed that they found it annoying. They remained friendly and relaxed from the beginning to the very end, which means a lot to the person who's moving, as you are under a lot of pressure. They also took care of unpacking my boxes when we got to LA, so I was actually left with the impression that the relocation to another part of the state is a piece of cake. What they offer is fast and SAFE service for your vehicle. Each of my cars that were brought over were handled with the utmost care. The reps I spoke to both went out of their way to ensure that my vehicles arrived in perfect order and left no stone unturned.

I'll be honest with you all, they were not the cheapest company. Their quote was always $100-$200 more than the next guy... however I found that small premium paid off huge. I got full access to the reps that outlined my deals. They made themselves available even when they were on their days off. It's nerve wracking moving cross country and having to trust an expensive asset such as a vehicle to people you do not know. However in the hands of this company I had the peace of mind knowing that they were treating my cars as if they were their own. It took us a long time to be able to schedule a date because our move was very up in the air up until the last minute, and Luke was able to help me get everything scheduled appropriately. We moved a 1 bedroom apartment and a vehicle, as they do bundle deals. They sent someone out to take inventory of our apartment before we even scheduled anything to get an accurate quote that was VOLUME based, not weight based. Meaning they would not turn around on moving day and say "hey this was heavier than we thought we gotta charge more," which many friends and family had told me horror stories about. The quote they gave me after the in home estimate was what I paid.

The men they sent to pack up our apartment were exceedingly professional and packed everything up in 2.5 hours. I packed almost all boxes, they packed my kitchen and the rest of the apartment. They packed all my paintings delicately, took off the stands and such as needed from our TVs. I didn't have to lift a finger.

Everything took almost the full 2 week window to arrive, however it's cross country, so we planned for this. We received almost daily texts about our household items, updating us on where the truck was along the route. For both the car and household we got calls/texts the day before to schedule a drop off window.

Delivery of the car came first: they need to deliver on an 18 wheeler so it's possible you will need to Uber to a pickup location(our was only 8 minutes away in a supermarket lot), however the driver will comp you for this. Just bring change just in case! Car was in great shape, no problems there.

Household items arrived 2 days later, and the movers were equally professional and quick. They reassembled anything they had to take apart for the move.

All in all, I had ZERO issues with this company and they did everything as expected and promised. I was very lucky by "moving standards" because not so much as a single glass cracked. I have nothing bad to say. I wholly recommend this company if hiring movers is in your budget. read less
