After diligent research Long Distance not only gave me the best bang for my buck, but customer service was amazing to work with. Although a lot more pricer than others places (I paid a little over $3K to move a standard 1-bedroom apartment across country), the quality of service and ease of moving you get makes the price worth it. The best part of their business model is quoting you at the beginning rather than at the end. Prices do not change even after they move you in. If you are one of those that are scared of losing your belongs (ME!) or things breaking, you don't have to worry about that with these folks. Not only do they print labels with barcodes attached to your information (name, phone #, and address) they paste it on EVERYTHING! Even the tools. Just to ensure your package makes it to the final destination unharmed. They also do a fanatic job of packing your furniture to ensure no bruises or scratches. After everything, they give you a follow up call to ensure everything went smooth, and on top of that they even offered me a Starbucks gift card! I actually shipped my car over the Christmas holidays but the driver got it there in a very reasonable time. I know they're not the cheapest option out there but I really didn't want to take a chance on having any kind of issue knowing that I would be moving to a completely foreign place for me. But I'm really glad I had them help me since they also allowed me to keep some things in the trunk.

The driver communicated very well for pick up and delivery and he also waited for me for a day to adjust to my flight schedule.

If I had to ship my car again I'd definitely use it. Even if it's slightly more money the fact that I can trust them to ship my car safely without a problem is worth every penny. read less

I chose Long Distance Movers because of their reviews, and I am so happy I did.

1.- The movers picking and dropping off my belongings were extremely professional and punctual. They arrive right at the start of the window for both pickup and drop off. On the pickup, they even repacked stuff to make sure it was secure.

2. I loved receiving notifications of where my stuff was at. It helped me estimate and coordinate time off at work better.

3. All my stuff arrived with NO damage. Even though it was snowing when the movers dropped my stuff, there was no water damage on any of the boxes.

It was a bit pricier than other movers, but not by much and it was worth it. read less

I had the need for a very specific moving solution, involving a long distance move from NY to LA and storage for about 3 months till I was settled. I found the company online and sent them a request for a quote. Patrick from their client desk got in touch with me immediately, worked out my needs and gave me a very reasonable quote that covered everything I asked for. In comparison, other movers came in at a much more expensive rate and provided half the service. Patrick also followed up and checked on everything throughout the process.

On the date of the move, the movers came in within 30 mts of the start of the window, they called me in advance. The movers were thorough and efficient. Handled both the furniture and the apartment with care, plus they did everything in about 4 hours. The drop off was the same, on time, professional efficient.

The best part was almost no breakage, some very minor scratches/dents. I was impressed at how well they had taken care of everything. Would recommend these guys for anyone planning a long distance move. Thanks guys! read less

We found Long Distance Movers on Yelp and decided to use them based on the reviews, and we are glad we did. The movers came in and wrapped all our furniture with the heavy moving blankets. All the boxes and furniture were labeled with numbers and descriptions. It was pretty impressive. They gave us a 14-business day window from when we can first take the delivery, which seems long, but we just planned accordingly. I received texts keeping us posted.

We decided to stay in Chicago for about a week after they picked up our items, and our car actually got to LA before us. Our furniture and boxes arrived the day after we flew in. Keep in mind it all depends on how many other stops the truck needed to make along the way, so maybe we got lucky.

My advice would be to provide as accurate a list of your items as possible, and try to make minimal changes to that, since it will affect your quote. But you'll always find other items that you forgot to list. I gave a guess-timate on the number of boxes we would have, but you won't really know how much until after your pack. I told them 25 medium boxes, but we ended up using some large boxes and went over the count. Be as realistic as possible and don't go over too much from what you originally said. If so, let them know so you don't get a surprise on moving day.

As mentioned in other reviews, it's a bit pricier but got what we paid for. Moving is never easy and maybe we were expecting the worst-case scenario, but we were pleasantly surprised. I can only speak on our experience, but we were very satisfied with the communication and service. We would definitely use them again. read less

I also wanted to get quotes from other companies for comparison so I contacted the bigger moving companies. Out of all four quotes, Long Distance Movers gave the best rate. Mark was very professional and easy to talk to. I also booked our vehicle transport through them.

On the day of the move, three employees came and all were very nice and friendly. Their work was so efficient and organized in packing up our furniture. My husband is an art dealer and is very particular with how his art works should be packed and he watched them pack everything and was thoroughly impressed. He's shipped art works before through an art shipping company and he said Long Distance Movers did an even better job. The quote we were provided even included crates for our two large canvases that are not protected by frame.

The car was also picked up by their partner, who was also very nice and accommodating. As his truck couldn't fit the always busy downtown LA streets, he even walked/took public transport to our place as it was near his garage and drove our car back to his lot.

The items did not stay in the warehouse long as I got a call the next day that they were on their way from LA to Charleston, SC. They arrived in perfect condition within two weeks of pick-up. My family member received the items and she noted how organized and efficient the Long Distance Movers employees were (she used another company for their interstate move and was able to compare).

The car also arrived within 10 days in perfect condition.

Overall, my family and I are very happy with the service from Mark and his team. Extra points for having a Quality Assurance manager contact me days after the move to ensure the items and car arrived to our satisfaction and they did. I would definitely recommend Long Distance Movers to family and friends. read less

It took me quite a lot of time to make this decision, but once I did, I wanted to do it right, and that was only possible with a reliable long distance moving company. I have a couple of friends who had gone through this process before me, so I asked them to recommend one. There were several different suggestions, so, in order to make a choice, I decided to check these companies' websites and see what exactly they have to offer. The first company I checked was Long Distance Movers. Having read about their services and prices, I realized there was no need for me to check the rest of companies my friends had suggested. I just grabbed my phone and called LDM to ask for more details. You know, first impressions are really important to me, so I was very happy to find out that these guys were so kind and friendly after my very first conversation with one of their reps. The woman was so patient and kind. She answered my numerous questions, such as: Do you provide me with moving boxes? How about bubble wrap? What other packing materials you use to protect my belongings? Are your movers trained for what they do? Are they efficient? (I hate it when people drag their feet), and many others. I know some of these could be considered impolite, but I was just so anxious about this procedure I couldn't control myself, and the lady on the phone did not show it in any way that she was bothered by such questions - she was patient and understanding. Anyway, after our long talk and all the explanations she gave me, I felt ready to schedule the moving day. My move was quite demanding, as I wanted to move my apartment, my office, also needed my car transported, and I wanted them to take care of packing everything for moving. However, you wouldn't believe how easy it seemed when done by their amazing team of professionals. I'm sure it was not really that easy for them to deal with all that, especially with my constant questions, but they just never showed that they found it annoying. They remained friendly and relaxed from the beginning to the very end, which means a lot to the person who's moving, as you are under a lot of pressure. They also took care of unpacking my boxes when we got to LA, so I was actually left with the impression that the relocation to another part of the state is a piece of cake. I mean, of course, it's not, but that's how it feels with Long Distance Movers. He was great, as a matter of fact he was so great I got suspicious. As it turned out he was really great. They were amazing. Every step of the way went so perfect I kept getting nervous something was going to go wrong. Again I was wrong and everything went perfectly. The crew that came to pack up were probably the nicest group of guys I could have wished for. They were efficient, careful, organized and as a bonus fun to work with.

So they packed up on Monday and Tuesday and delivery was supposed to be the following week on Wednesday. I flew to San Diego to find my condo not even close to being ready for the delivery. I called Mark and again, no problem. They held my stuff and could not have been more accommodating and understanding.

Now for my car. I also needed that to be shipped. Called Mark, got a pickup date I wanted and a week later my car arrived in San Diego. Now on the other hand my son called DAS who picked up his car and had it in PA for over a month, wouldn't answer the phone and when they did they hung up on him. They finally told him it might be another month or two before they could get it to San Diego. I called Mark and said HELP. Two days later we got a release from DAS, Mark had the car picked up from where they were holding it and a week later my son had his car.

They say moving is one of the most stressful things you can do and it is probably true, however, these guys gave me zero stress and were a pleasure to deal with. Sometime I guess if things seem to good to be true you just have to sit back and enjoy it.

We had a very strict date to meet our move and to get everything out of our old place and into storage. We called and received an estimation right the next day and assured us that it would be no problem to accommodate to our deadline.

A supervisor arrived the following morning and said that they have several trucks and workers on call, ready to work if necessary! We noticed two gentlemen outside with him and apparently there were many more prepared to arrive if they felt the extra manpower was necessary. He scanned the entire house from the boxes to the couches and even took an extra look at the glass china that my parents love to collect.

He offered us a cheap insurance plan and assured me that with or without it they will be nothing but cautious with all of our things. We purchased it just because you are never too sure and when you have glass objects or fragile belongings that might crack or shatter you just want to be safe. Luckily none of those things happened and we were able to complete the entire first floor of the move the first day. The second floor and the basement took another day and a half but we managed to finish two days prior to our move in date and all of our stuff was scheduled to arrive before we even landed! So happy with how things turned out, try these guys they are great. read less

I've moved two vehicles through them from Houston tx to San Francisco Ca over the summer and one vehicle from Ohio to California this past winter (during a storm no less).

What they offer is fast and SAFE service for your vehicle. Each of my cars that were brought over were handled with the utmost care. The reps I spoke to both went out of their way to ensure that my vehicles arrived in perfect order and left no stone unturned.

I'll be honest with you all, they were not the cheapest company. Their quote was always $100-$200 more than the next guy... however I found that small premium paid off huge. I got full access to the reps that outlined my deals. They made themselves available even when they were on their days off. It's nerve wracking moving cross country and having to trust an expensive asset such as a vehicle to people you do not know. However in the hands of this company I had the peace of mind knowing that they were treating my cars as if they were their own. The 3 times that I've used this company I've always gotten 5 star service. I'll pay the extra $100 knowing that my car will get to its destination on time and in one piece. read less

The promised me a price and kept their word.

On the date of pickup my agent called me as well as the driver ensuring everything was in line and on time. The driver showed up at the dealership and did a walk through of my new car and then loaded it up.  On a side note, It's pretty awesome watching how these guys load the trailers up with vehicles using the hydraulics to move each car around.

Communication is a key aspect of any professional move, not only with the movers among each other but also with the receptionist and estimator being able to constantly update and communicate with the customers. They called us the day we were supposed to perform our in home estimation just to make sure we were awake and it was still convenient for them to drive over. When we confirmed they were on their way and contacted us one more time five minutes prior to arrival just to make sure we were prepared. Due to its old age our elevator in the building was relatively rusty and gave out from time to time, just stopped working. Unfortunately, it also happened the day men were scheduled to come to our house to begin packing and loading our furniture onto trucks. Obviously that turned out to be a feat considering the easiest way of getting and down just stopped functioning.

The men were not deterred and said it was no problem that they could run the things up and down the stairs. I was honestly humbled but completely argued against it as they would have to run up and down two stories worth of steps. The whole building had seven floors but luckily ours was one of the closest to the parking garage. Thankfully they were only about forty five minutes into the move when a repairman arrived and fixed the elevator, the rest of the move became a breeze. Everything turned out great, we are just now unboxing everything and we are so grateful to Cross Country for all they have done for my family and our move.

It was so refreshing to be assigned a group of movers who were not only their to earn a paycheck but rather wanted to actually help to ease our transition into the new place. These movers were genuine and caring people and these characteristics reflected in the workmanship, very professional and disciplined group of guys that cooperate well even when they are on opposite sides of the room. They would sweep into the room stuffing all of the appliances into crates and all of the clothing into the boxes that we had designated for them to use. They helped us label and pack everything and then began the loading process onto the trucks with dollies and the liftgate.

Within a few hours we had decimated at least a quarter of the move and this was so satisfying considering that we had another two to three days before we needed to have everything loaded and shipped out. Our move in date was schedule for the Wednesday of the following week and this would give us sufficient time to take our flight, arrive at the new home and unpack everything respectively.

My biggest concern throughout the entire move was precisely how we would be able to get all of our belongings from one place to another without damage. And without a sign of distrust they were able to provide me reassurance that our stuff was in good hands and these movers truly knew what they were doing. Thank you guys so very much for all the help you guys have provided to us and the assistance you gave to make our family's stress about a new city and a new place just a little easier!
