Before you start organizing your relocation in depth, you might want to learn more about the state of Colorado. Here’s a short guide containing all the essential information.

About Colorado

Colorado is part of the Western United States. Colorado is America’s eighth largest state in terms of landmass. Soon after gold was discovered near Denver, the region around Pikes Peak became the Colorado Territory. Other names were suggested and discarded in favor of Colorado, Spanish for "red" in reference to the color of the water of the Colorado River. Colorado's nickname is The Centennial State because it became 38th state in 1876, exactly 100 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Colorado is bordered by Wyoming to the north, Nebraska to the northeast, Kansas to the east, Oklahoma to the southeast, New Mexico to the south, Utah to the west, and Arizona to the southwest at the Four Corners.
Colorado is usually thought of as a snowy mountainous place, home of the Rocky Mountain, but it also has forests, deserts and canyons. But it's true that Colorado is the highest state and has more mountains reaching 14,000 feet than any other state. Denver is the capital and the most populous city of Colorado. Some of the other large cities are: Colorado Springs, Aurora, Fort Collins, Lakewood, Thornton, Pueblo, Arvada etc. The climate of Colorado is fascinating in every way. Being located as a mid-latitude interior continental state and having the highest average elevation in the United States, combined with complex topography, results in dramatic climate differences from place to place and from year to year.

The economy of Colorado is divided roughly by the state's landscape. Farming activities are most prominent in the flat eastern plains. Between the eastern plains and the western mountains, Colorado's urban areas are home to most services, and manufacturing businesses. The Rocky Mountains, in the western part of the state provides numerous recreation areas and the state's numerous petroleum and coal deposits.
The unemployment rate in Colorado is 4%, with job growth of 1.65% . CNBC's list of "Top States for Business for 2010" has recognized Colorado as the third best state in the nation, falling short to only Texas and Virginia.

-Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. Guided by a mission to collect, preserve, research, and interpret the history and culture of the Pikes Peak Region, the Museum features permanent exhibits on the history of the area and changing exhibits on topics of broad interest.
-Denver Art Museum. The exhibits of the museum reflect the city of Denver and its surroundings and provide valuable ways for the locals and visitors to learn about cultures from around the world.
-Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center. This is a multi disciplinary center for arts located in Pueblo and serves as many as 17 surrounding counties.
State Parks:
-Colorado State Park. This agency manages more than forty state parks, all of Colorado's wildlife, more than 300 wildlife areas and a handful of recreational programs. The mission of the organization is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of Colorado, to provide a high-quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities for the state’s residents.
